Delayed Death by Beate Boeker

4.0

In ‘Delayed Death’ we meet Carlina, the owner of a luxurious lingerie store in Florence, Italy. Carlina has a huge family and her days are filled with spending time at work and dealing with her family. When Carlina’s cousin is getting married Carline helps getting the bride ready for her big day. Unfortunately Carlina finds her grandfather dead in his chair on the day of the wedding. This could destroy her cousin’s entire day. So Carlina, decides to hide his corpse until after the wedding.
This was not one of her brightest ideas since her grandfather appears to have been murdered. Not long after the wedding Carlina finds herself being a suspect in the murderer investigation run by a handsome inspector and she has to prove her innocence.

This book was from the very beginning really fun to read. The writing is easy to understand and I felt myself enjoying the story from the very first page. The characters Beate Boeker described in this book were very easy to love. I don’t have a big family, but reading about this big family and all their quarrels made me miss this. I loved the way the family interacted with each other and how they gossiped away.

The murder investigation was very fun to read. I seriously had no idea who the murderer was, honestly everyone could have done it. Although the romance part in this book is very small, I truly enjoyed Carlina’s and the inspectors interactions. I can’t wait to read more about those two.
This book is very well written and really funny. I honestly laughed like crazy a couple of times. This book definitely gets my recommendation. If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries this book is definitely one for you.
