The book was very mysterious and I’ve enjoyed it for the first 450/500 pages. Afterwards it became a bit redundant and tedious to get interesting on the last 70 pages again but still being a bit cryptic. I guess I would like to discuss it with someone however nobody discussed properly on YouTube and none of the people I know read it.
The book is written marvellously and the best advice is not to try and understand word for word but just exploring the book and get carried where it leads.
On YouTube there is a clip where the actors that were chosen for the movie at the time said that still at this time they don’t understand what the book is about and they’ve read it few times.
This is a spoiler:
The ending is cryptic because the words make it seem like one thing but your feelings (at least mine) told me that the opposite happened. I feel that some of the main concepts are that
1- to have a change of heart it takes more than that because in the end Nicholas demonstrates to be just as stupid and incapable of expressing himself as he was, he slapped her hard.
2- that once your privacy is violated and people spy on you, you don’t feel free anymore and that if someone tried to analyse their freedom of choice they will loose any they’ve ever had.
3- Conchis said that getting an answer means closing the door of mystery and to step into boredom. Well he definitely didn’t give me any answer and I don’t like too much mystery after all.
