Ok, ok. After reading Mistborn, I now understand the Brandy Sandy hype. As my first dive into his work, I don't think I could've started in a better way. Mistborn is the first book I've read where I want a video game adaptation instead of the usual TV show/movie. The magic system is so unique and interesting that I kept imagining how it would look like/work within a game while I read. That alone makes this quite a unique experience, but this start to the original trilogy offers so much more.
While the magic system intrigued me so much, it was the world-building and characters that rounded this out to make it nothing short of a masterpiece. The characters were very well-developed, charismatic, and had their own distinct personalities that made them lovable. The world itself gives off the perfect atmospheric-type reading for a cool, crisp dreary fall day (almost every day was like this for me while reading).
Overall, Mistborn is everything I look for in an epic fantasy novel and I can't wait to continue on with the original trilogy! I'm now a fully converted fan and will be reading everything he's ever written - yes, even the potential m*rder weapons that comprise the Stormlight Archive...
