The Circle by Dave Eggers

3.0

This book had a fascinating premise, which drew me in, but the characters were all painfully under-developed (notable for a few quirks - such as chandelier making and kayaking - but not much else) and just reacting to the events unfolding. I wanted to connect with, and understand them more, but the superficiality felt unintentional. It could have read as an analogy to the lack of context and substance inherent in social media, but came across as heavy-handed descriptions and a plot which just happened to occur to these characters.
