There was only this immortality, this brimming power which shut me off from actuality or time.
I've probably said this before, but this is by far one of the best Anne Rice novels that I have read to date. It started off with a bang, and it didn't let up. There were twists and turns that I did NOT see coming, even right up to the end. Anne Rice did a tremendously wonderful job (as per usual) weaving together Quinn's story with the history of Blackwood Farm, and the current affairs in the lives of the Mayfair witches, the Talamasca, and the vampire Lestat.
"I knew but I did not know. I understood but I did not understand. All was abundantly clear. Nothing was clear at all."
Quinn was an entrancing narrator, and Anne Rice paid extreme detail to the story without making it too cumbersome. It was a bit of a long read, but I feel that it was necessary in order to fully tell the story of Blackwood Farm, as well as Quinn's history with his ghostly companion, Goblin. There's just so much I want to say, but can't because of spoilers, so I'll leave it at that. I can't wait to start on the next book in the series!
