Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

4.0

4/5 stars. Audio book. The House in the Cerulean Sea was a five-star read for me. I have nothing to complain about with that book. Under the Whispering Door was almost the same, but I took a full star off for the repetitive nature of the first half of the book. I understand what TJ Klune was trying to accomplish in the first half. I think he wanted to convey the new life in death for Wallace, and all that entailed, but it was a little too much. I also do not do spoilers, but the way the love story was setup was a little annoying. These two people didn’t appear to be in love at all, and then, after conveniently revealing one of them was bisexual and the other was gay, suddenly a love story appeared. It was a little abrupt and seemed disingenuous.

I really enjoyed all the characters in this book and the story was so touching. I would recommend, but please know that it is slow starting out. It is totally worth it!
