my first introduction to clémence michallon and it wasn't a too memorable one lol. this book was sooo anticipated and now... i will definitely forget about this book in a day easy. however, i still wanted to check out how it'd end.
this story was supposed to explore the psychological (and not just that) impact of aidan's crimes on the women in his life.

first off, i didn't really connect with any of the characters in this book. the MC was absolutely naive at times to the point where i just wanted to smack some sense into her lol. her decision making was sometimes... obnoxious to say the least.
i didn't particularly care for cecilia either, something about the writing style just prevented me from fully connecting to her. i did relate to some parts of her that had to do with loving being left alone in social gatherings and always preferring to stay indoors. (my panic attack disorder isn't helping lol) so that was a plus.
i did wish the story was told only from the MC's pov. i didn't need all these people and their stories. especially emily's. she was so beyond boring to read about, i was always excited to read MC's pov.

the writing style was often repetitive and didn't manage to fully engage me. maybe it was due to it being told to you in 2nd person. i normally love them, but if it's written like this? nah, sorry.
however, i really appreciate my girlie selena gomez being mentioned in this book. 🥰
i also didn't know that a group of crows were actually called a murder of crows. crows are my favorite birds so y'all know i had to highlight that shii.
 ‎
the plot was draggingggg okay, nothing remotely interesting happened until 50% in like c'mon girl, halfway through the book we ain't been shit given? we're halfwayyy we need action boss.
anyway i found the quiz show boring as hell at their house.
ngl at the 40% mark i was ready to just wrap that up and be done with it lol but since it was my anticipated one, i wanted to see how it'd play out.
man, the ending was something... underwhelming bro. i know it's a debut and all but this just wasn't good for the most part, in my personal humble opinion. if you liked it, here 🍾 leaving you this and good for you bestie!
i might pick up another book by this author depending if the premise sounds brilliant.
