The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
5.0
the prophet is a short series of meditations on so many different subjects such as love, work, freedom, pain, friendship, death and more. pretty much every sentence is quotable, it was hard to choose only one for this review, so this is 1/3: "all your hours are wings that beat through space from self to self." written poetically, the prophet is nourishing for the soul. these are prose and poems that i would read at monumental life milestone rituals. this was written in 1923, well before the invention of israel, but palestinian born gibran's words ring true today: "for life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one." #freepalestine though the connection to my grandfather makes them even more special to me, by their own merit, gibran gives us a gift, ending here: "if in the twilight of memory we should meet once more, we shall speak again together and you shall sing to me a deeper song."
