As you can imagine, I was so excited to hear that Kandi Steiner was coming out with a hockey series! I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while so, better late than never to finally jump into a new series with hot hockey players, sassy, strong female characters, romance galore, spice, found family, and much more!
As you can imagine, I was so excited to hear that Kandi Steiner was coming out with a hockey series! I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while so, better late than never to finally jump into a new series with hot hockey players, sassy, strong female characters, romance galore, spice, found family, and much more!
This story followed, Maven and Vince, two people who found themselves in FORCED PROXIMITY after Maven was given the job of following Vince around to write the latest story on him of his day to day life as a pro hockey player. Maven and Vince didn’t exactly start off on the right foot, but slowly and surely the two went from enemies to lovers!
Maven had this initial impression of Vince as a total playboy, and cocky hockey player, but that wasn’t exactly true. Ok, yes Vince was a bit of a playboy with the ladies, but he wasn’t a jerk about it. Plus, the thing I liked about Vince’s character was seeing how he wasn’t exactly what the media portrayed him to be. Vince knew how to turn on his charms and smiles for the cameras, but when he wasn’t he was also a kind, and generous people who helped others. I think we can all agree that with Maven spending time with Vince as part of her assignment, she truly got to see Vince behind the scenes as the man he was, and it started to change her initial perception of him.
The men in this book were not only hot, but also hilarious! One of the many things I LOVE about hockey romances or sports romances in general is seeing a close knit group of friends which is what Vince had with his fellow teammates. Jaxson, Daddy P, Carter, and Vince were a great bunch of men, but each were different in ways that only made me excited for the future books. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that scene in which the men (minus Daddy P) literally got ON THEIR KNEES to beg Maven to go to Boomers with them?! Like what?! I JUST LOVED THAT SCENE!
If I was Maven having to spend literally every single day, twenty-four seven with a man like Vince Tanev, I wouldn’t know how to control my blushing self! Instead, Maven had some control…I mean aside from that bathtub encounter and the amount of tension building between the two, phew! Lots of sexual tension I’m telling you! As much as Maven was attracted to Vince, she wasn’t quick to jump into bed with him, whereas Vince wanted Maven all for himself. If you love the, “he falls first” trope, then rest assured my friends, Vince gave off that energy and oh boy IT WAS GOOD! Vince was the kind of man that knew what he wanted and went after it. In this case, Vince liked Maven’s stubborn attitude and the way the two of them pushed each other’s buttons, some might even consider that foreplay *wink, wink.
PHEW! MS. KANDI STEINER WASN’T PLAYING WITH THIS SPICE! Lord have mercy, I was getting all hot! OMG! I mean, with a hot hockey player such as, Vince, I knew he was capable of a lot, but my goodness gracious that man had me blushing and equally feeling the temperatures rising with that dirty talk and his moves in and out of the bedroom or in some cases the team gym! OMG! If you love a spicy sports romance, once again Kandi had it covered in that arena as well!
My oh my, I have missed Kandi Steiner’s books, and this was such an enjoyable and entertaining hockey romance! Kandi really did bring us the pro hockey series we have been adamantly waiting for, and OOOOO MAMA IT WAS GREAT! Vince was that playboy, cocky, rookie NHL player on and off the ice, but when you got to see him behind the scenes, he was actually a genuinely amazing man who loved to do pottery, and give back to the community. Maven was a mix of stubborn, sassy, and she equally pushed Vince’s buttons on multiple occasions. The enemies to lovers felt unique in this storyline, and I think it has to do with the way Kandi wrote Maven and Vince’s dynamic which was amazing! I also loved how the men in this book were a diverse bunch of personalities, but also very caring about each other. The romance was hot, spicy, and blush worthy that I was burning up! WOOOOOO! There was a good amount of everything from the focus on hockey, the found family between the teammates, enemies to lovers, FANTASTIC BANTER, and even some lighthearted funny mixed in with the emotional parts. (Sigh) Kandi did an amazing job, and I know I’m a little late to this series, but nonetheless I’m very excited to continue with the next book, especially with the epilogue setting up the next book perfectly with a certain someone’s little sister, and TEAMMATE! YESSSS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
