my first book by this author! too bad it didn't work out for me as good as i thought it would, i'm disappointed. 😭

i didn't manage to connect with the characters at all. i didn't care what was gonna happen to either of them.
i felt for tolly for losing his father, but other than that he was pretty shallow to me, idk. he yapped about the same things over and over again and it just got old real quick.
i did appreciate the friendship between tolly and amber. she was a real one!

regarding the writing style, the amount of times words slasher and final girl were mentioned... just no.
also the chapters were really long and honestly if it wasn't for the audiobook, i think i wouldn't been able to power through the story.
it was also really repetitive at times, talking about the same thing countless times. we get it tolly, you're a slasher. 🙄
i disliked the sexual stuff that was written out of nowhere as well. it was cringe as hell.
overall the writing style felt clunky. tolly often reeled away from his original thought to over explain some things that didn't even matter.

i did like this book for its plot up until like 30% of the book. the party scene? brilliant. also the justin thing? immaculate. after that, everything just went downhill and boring.
there wasn't enough action for me to enjoy this, tolly just went on a yapping rampage about the same things over and over again which was annoying.
then the 2/2 part of the book was a bit confusing to me at times and didn't really follow what was happening. it didn't help that tolly was lying to us readers about certain things. it just made it all so underwhelming.
this book just isn't for me. there were a couple things i liked, but for the most part it didn't work for me personally.
