This is the second book I’ve read by Dr Amanda Brown with this one specifically focussing on her time working inside a female-only prison. This read is very emotional, highlighting many social issues and situations that people sadly find themselves in. It offers an alternative perspective, showing how things aren’t always as clear as being right and wrong, with not all people being ‘bad’ or ‘criminals’, rather that ‘anyone could turn up in prison if their life took a wrong turn.’
Graphic: Alcoholism, Drug abuse, Physical abuse, Self harm, Sexual assault, and Suicide
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, and Gaslighting
