this is a gem of a book! i had so much fun reading this, it felt so magical and enchanting and heart warming. this circus left me wanting it to be real, like i really wish there was a black and white circus smelling of caramel and sugar and opening only at dusk until dawn, it would make everything so much more dazzling! i have literally no idea why i've put this book away for so long, not being ready to pick it up. it was all i needed at the moment, and the plot is something rather unique.

the characters also felt super realistic. i could picture them in my mind so easily. it felt like actually being there, with them, working at the circus. i think Marco has to be my least favorite one cuz of what he'd done to Isobel which was quite unfair and for the way he dealt with the problem - not being bothered at all. i loved the fact that he was REALLY fond of books tho. all the other characters were brilliantly developed as well. they felt real and fragile and someone who u'd want around ur circle. i will miss Isobel, Marco, Celia, Poppet, Widget, Bailey and even Tsukiko ;(

the writing style was also unique. it definitely reminded me of old 80s-90s times and so felt heart warming. i'll have to read more of this author. it's something that u either like or dislike, so i'm not surprised that people either love this book or hate it lol.

i would recommend this to fantasy lovers, bit of a historical romance lovers and those, who want to try fantasy genre. it was a splendid read!
