Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

5.0

I found this book to be very well written. Many people have criticized the romance between Heathcliff and Catherine as being "anything but romantic" and many said that the author failed to write a romance novel, but the truth is that the author succeeded in beautifully describing the darker side of love, the unhealthy obsessive facet many people want to ignore. If you're looking for a sweet romantic novel to read, avoid this book, but if you're looking for something deep and authentic and don't mind exploring some dysfunctional/negative effects that could be caused by loving someone too much, then you will most likely love it. This isn't a romance novel. The two main characters, Heathcliff and Catherine are selfish, self centered and irredeemable. The purpose of this book is to delve into their wicked nature. Death is a prominent theme in this book as well, so it's a very morbid novel. If you're into dark reads like I am, you would love it.
