Oh man. Make sure you’re in the right headspace for this one. It’s a doozy!
I think about the afterlife occasionally, as most people probably do. I honestly don’t believe there is one to tell the truth. But if there was, I’d want it to be this for sure. What a sweet and comforting way to go. I did have a hard time at first because I found myself feeling very anxious about my own end. That might be partly owing to Wallace’s anxiousness and the fact that the first half of the book is quite slow. Like, REALLY slow. Lots of pondering and conversation. The whole book isn’t really action-packed or moving at a fast pace at all. That would distract from the point I think.
Anyway, this was beautiful and thought-provoking. I have In the Lives of Puppets on my shelf and can’t wait to pick it up!
