This was a combination of The Handmaid's Tale, and The Hunger Games. A dystopian society where the girls are sent away for their 16th year to burn off their magic because of their influence on the male controlled society. It made me uncomfortable for sure being faced with this this world that is controlled by men where women have no choices at all, and are faced with horrific decisions.

In the 1st third I thought I knew where it was going,  but I didn't.  It took a turn I didn't expect and became unlike the books I have read in the past. It was a refreshing, and captivating take.

I was very unsatisfied by the ending. It felt unfinished, and untold. I wanted more resolution,  but that is also sometimes.a reader preference.

I did definitely enjoy this book. I read it in a day, and it will likely stay with me.
