Bittersweet by Carmen Jenner, Lauren K. McKellar

3.0

One of my favorite things about indie authors is when they team up and co-write books. Carmen Jenner has been one of my favorites for a few years, her comedic timing as well as her angsty moments have made her one of my autobuy authors. Lauren McKellar is a new to me author so I was excited to see what one of my faves and an author I haven't read could do with a story.

Bittersweet is a bit of a slow burn coupled with a whole mess of mixed messages and miscommunication. As much as I liked the premise and it made me laugh out loud, some of the conflict was just so unnecessary. I know, I know, some of those things are needed to move a story along, but they still make me want to throw my damn kindle.

The end was so rushed, the main characters spent so much time avoiding each other and miscommunicating that when the conflict was finally resolved, I wanted to see more of them together, how they navigated their relationship. Yes, it was wrapped up nicely with a little bow, but even though they pissed me off at times throughout the book, I was so invested in them, the ending came just a bit too quickly.

All in all, it was a fun chick lit read and I would love to see what else this duo can come up with in the future.
