Really not sure how to rate this book so I’m not gunna #rebel. It was a fine, enjoyable romance, although it didn’t feel hugely ground breaking.

It was definitely one of the better books of the year so far, in that I actually finished it in a week and was quickly absorbed, so if you’re looking for a nice speedy read this ticks all the boxes.

However I have too gripes. All the background family stuff just didn’t really do it for me, it’s was a lot of angst with very little progress made each time it came up. Too much introspection maybe. Not sure, still working out that point. Maybe I read it so fast I didn’t get attached enough to the characters to care.

My main gripe however was the set up to this enemies to lovers.
Nora is wayyyy too hung up on one bad convo with Charlie from two years ago and both of them have extremely good memories of it. Basically, it just left way too big an impression on both of them for what it was making it really hard to buy in to. And then by page 100 they’re making out. Just the lack of a slow burn really frustrated me and I just couldn’t get past this reading the rest of it.
