Dune by Frank Herbert

2.0

I’m of two minds after reading this book. On one hand, the world-building is phenomenal and a new complex and fascinating new world for me to sink my teeth into is exciting. However, on the other hand, this was an incredibly boring read that put me in a reading slump for the entire month.

Dune is smart and well thought out and if you love complex dynamics you’ll enjoy this but Dune fails in one very large aspect. It’s characters. After finishing it I can say that I was only really interested by one character (Lady Jessica) and that everyone else just felt stale. Every character was boring in a book where every character is import.
