The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

5.0

FIRST READ: 2013; RE-READ: 2016

I clearly remember the first time I read "The Raven Boys".
It was my first Maggie Stiefvater book and it opened up a whole new world for me.
And after nearly three years, it still is one of my favourite books.
The whole series is probably my favourite series out of all the ones I have read.

"She recognized the strange happiness that came from loving something without knowing why you did, that strange happiness that was sometimes so big that it felt like sadness."

I found this book as wonderful and breathtaking as the I had found it the first time around.
I love Maggie's writing style, so mesmerizing and magical.
I love the stories she tells and I love the characters she portrays.

"He couldn’t stand it, all of this inside him.
In the end, he was nobody to Adam, he was nobody to Ronan. Adam spit his words back at him and Ronan squandered however many second chances he gave him.
Gansey was just a guy with a lot of stuff and a hole inside him that chewed away more of his heart every year. They were always walking away from him. But he never seemed able to walk away from them."

And Richard "Dick" Campbell Gansey III is still my favourite character of the series, one of my favourite characters of all time.
I love him, so so much.

I cannot wait to re-read the second one. I know I'm going to love it as much as the first time.
