Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
5.0
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson--In some ways a train wreck in slow motion, in others an optimistic look at the nature of humanity, this book defies both expectations and brevity. It's a story told in three parts about the end of the world as we currently know it, and the journey to attempt to build a new society. Stephenson gets in the weeds discussing the nature and source of power in society, requirements for life to succeed and thrive in challenging situations, and perhaps chiefly, the science involved in moving humanity to space using current technology on extremely short notice. Through it all, Stephenson writes with wit, imagination, and delightful threads of connectivity that weave nearly 900 pages of story together. Two thumbs up.
