Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan

4.0

I actually thought i was going to like this one the most but August and Iris take the cake and if I’m being honest are the only couple in the series whose chemistry I actually felt. That don’t mean Kenan and Lotus’s love isn’t as palpable, it just means I didn’t connect with them like I thought I would.
Strangely enough, I was more interested with the black culture here. Growing up in the hood, the music, how out of place light skin blacks can feel from dark skin blacks, hair texture, Voodoo and shit
The Voodoo shocked me the most because I actually thought it was just dolls and shit but it’s more and intertwined with religion even. The Bible. Loved that.
And God help me, This book also gave me a new perspective on cheating.
All in all. 4.5 stars rounded up!
Ms. Elle Kennedy did a good job.
The Audiobook eats hands down. They’re not white but they live in a place where white culture should be more prominent but the Audiobook let’s me know the black in their viens didn’t crack. You can hear it in the voice, feel it with the expressions. Ughhh obsessed.
