Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

5.0

This was not the first, or second, time I read this book, but I’ve never given it an official review. Re-read in preparation to watch the movie on Netflix!

The first time I read this book was when it published, and I was still a kid. It’s amazing what 13 years and a whole lot of introspection will do. The first time was a lot of “oh my gosh she’s growing up and doing everything I want to do and getting away from home.” I was invested, as a young adult starting my life, in this story of young adults starting their lives.

PUH-LEASE. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it. Dessen is in my top ten favorite authors. But damn it Auden’s parents are awful, toxic, projecting, narcissistic JERKS. Post-experience me desperately wants to heal her and her friends of all their pain.

The story line is great, timeless really…with the choices Dessen made along the way it should be readable for decades to come!
