Three Hard Lessons by Nikki Sloane
4.0
3.5⭐️ Entertaining and cute but needs a stronger plot. Don’t get me wrong, the spice is ✨good✨ but I need more depth.
Payton and Dominic’s relationship is sweet and definitely insta-love. Insta-love romances aren’t my favorite, but I do love a man obsessed. It took a while for me to warm up to Payton after what happened in the last book. She’s not bad, she just makes dumb decisions....like buying an $80k jaguar with no savings and quitting her job for a man she met 2 seconds ago. What is with the people in this series making horrible financial decisions? I wish there was more substance to Payton. Her main character traits are being anti-commitment and loving sex. I wanted to know more about her.
Dom is so adorable and he definitely lives up to his name...he’s the perfect balance of sweet and dominant. He is just a lonely man who wants love, and he falls for Payton hard and fast.
Once Payton and Dom get together (which happens pretty quickly) the plot basically follows their day-to-day lives in Tokyo, with Payton struggling to adjust to the culture shock and loneliness. The couple has pretty terrible communication skills. Basically 90% of the book is fluff and spice. I’m not complaining, it was entertaining, but it needs a stronger plot to get a higher rating from me.
Quick and easy read, very sexy, I can’t complain.
