this was a book i wanted to sit with before reviewing. a really incredible read from start to finish- i put it down and i then in 4 hours i looked up, it was dark outside, and the book was over. butler takes travel within time and space as a given and her story is powerfully woven to tell us about memory, ancestry and family lines, the choices we have and what we owe each other, safety and positionality. this book inspired more questions than answers. intense, not an easy read- but well worth it.
