Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
3.0
‘Everything I Never Told You’ is a novel that explores grief and the impact on a family when things are left unspoken. Set in Ohio in the 1970s, a Chinese-American family must learn to cope after the mysterious death of their teenage daughter.
This isn’t a light read at all. It’s heavy and tragic and filled with grief and that suffocating pressure never lets up. It’s a good story about how keeping things that bother you can destroy not only you but the people you love. Reading about this family trying to hang onto each other by a thread is sad and it definitely elicits frustration at the way they treat each other.
‘Everything I Never Told You’ is a good book but it isn’t something that I’ll likely think about after finishing it.
