Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare
4.0
I heard about this book via horror booktube (Jordaline reads!)—and I wasn’t prepared to really like it. It’s YA which I didn’t realize, although it makes sense as the story centres on small town teenagers. It’s a totally enjoyable escapist slasher/shooter/cross-bow/circular-saw horror story. It’s well written. There’s a queer relationship that’s presented as a ‘twist’ of sorts but honestly I didn’t feel it was portrayed problematically—it’s in context of a host of small town cliches. It’s a book that you can easily imagine making a fun movie.
