The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
5.0
Having read and enjoyed 84K by Claire North, I decided to finally read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, a book I DNFed a few years ago. And it was a hell of a book!
The story centers around the idea of certain people living their life over and over again. And these people formed a secret society, 'Cronus Club', wherein their kinds can meet and help others who are struggling to accept their unusual life.
Harry August, the main character, is born early in the 20th century right in time for him to fight in WWII. The story follows how Harry August comes across the Cronus Club. His journey from self-destruction to acceptance. Self-discovery. And in time, how he gets to face a world in which the end is coming.
This was such a well-researched book. Historical events after historical events. Global crisis. War. Science & Technology. Everything was on point. I was mesmerized and could not stop myself listening to the audiobook version of this book (The audibook was lit!).
Similar to 84K, this book is not for everyone. It is a book that refuses to categorise itself in one genre. It's a literary fiction heavily mixed with Historical and Science fiction. In short, my kind of read.
