Dissecting Meredith by Freya Barker

5.0

Meredith is all about solving mysteries. Jay wants the same outcome but certain things need to happen first. If you’ve never read this author before then this might be the perfect book to start with. Once you have, then you will be a fan – at least I am anyway. Even though this is part of a series, you won’t feel lost by delving into her book that crosses over into another author’s world as well as showcasing her own.

Our main characters are people who have been doing their jobs for a while but the author doesn’t give away ages in the beginning. I liked the fact that she didn’t do that so you can get to know who they are as a person. But when it is revealed, I hope you will be surprised. Not all stories are under the age of thirty and those over that aren’t all ready for retirement.

I loved how the story progressed – both with the mystery and the romance. There was no scene that seemed to go on too long. I didn’t feel that there were any times when the mystery seemed to stall. Part of that may be my fandom with the reality crime shows. The only fictional TV show I could think of, that would fit the characters, was Bones. What used to always be shown as a man’s position, we see that society has finally realized that women are just as smart. But then the authors knew that all along.

Was glad that the author has written this as a standalone because there are times that I don’t realize that a new book is coming out – yeah, I’ve missed a few. But it’s good because that means that I can go back and read them without feeling lost. As for this book, it will definitely be on my list of books to read again.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
