Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
As this was a DNF, I won't rate it, but...

I had such high hopes for this one. Tons of rave reviews.

My experience, however, was different. Remember how, back when Dawson's Creek was the big thing, and every 17-year-old kid sounded like they were an extremely literate college professor?

Yeah, these guys talk like that.

But worse than that, trying to navigate what little actually happens in this story—dude runs out of gas, walks into town, meets up with another dude, they go to a football field and get high—feels like I'm being told the story by someone who's hyper-caffeinated and coked up and suffering from ADHD to boot. I mean, this story meanders all over the place.

And yet...nothing happens aside from the reader getting bludgeoned with standard teenage party life, or the rantings of a System/The Man/The World-hating activist.

Nope. Not for me.
