📝 This was a good book but a little tough to get through, just because of the level of emotion. There's a lot of angst and roadblocks! But the characters were compelling. This is book 2 in the Skyland series (book 1 = Before I Let Go) but they can be read independently.
This story follows two people (MF) who both have kids from their previous marriages, so they're a little older than commonly shown in romance but not old enough to be middle aged. Their kids are integral to their lives and are their top priority, so there's some struggle with how to be your own fulfilled person while still showing up for your kids. Our couple go through some tough times but of course we get our HEA!
🎧 Dual narration for a dual POV story. Both actors did a great job.
🌶️ There were several spicy scenes, but something about them felt more clinical than scintillating to me? I can't quite identify why.
🏳️🌈✊ Representation: POC MCs (and their families). [The white characters in the story were mostly the villains lol!] Three characters with autism in three very different ways. Queer rep in a couple side characters.
