Alright. So I know that this is a weird book to read. It's not a novel or anything like that. It’s also not the normal nonfiction book I usually read. I had to read it for an old workplace because I was on a Leadership Track. This means that I am learning how to be a leader and how I can lead people efficiently. Which is going to be good in the long run because I want to run my psychology firm one day. This means I will have people working for me and that means I should learn how to lead them. This also means getting over my social anxiety about public speaking but hey, one thing at a time.
This book is about how to make your business number one to work for and number one in customer service. But I feel that this book can be more than just about businesses and how to run them. I think it teaches you how to live your life. It teaches you how to be a better person. It teaches you that how you treat people is very important. It’s too bad that the company I read this book for (I’m editing reviews in 2022 and I’m no longer with said company) doesn’t follow what this book had to offer. I feel like a lot of companies, especially in health care, could benefit from checking this book out.
This book is filled with stories about bosses who go above and beyond for their employees. It explains how they make every customer feel special and how every employee is valued from the cleaning crew to the CEO. There are 10 basic rules for creating a service culture, which means how can you make an employee and customer feel valued. Along with that, some quotes are inspiring and have you think about your life and how you treat people. I have no idea what those quotes are now because I didn’t write them down like a fool. But I’m sure they were inspiring.
I know that when I run my firm (note from future Lacy: I will not be running my firm one day. My goals in life have changed from 2016.), I will own this book and I will have every single employee read this book. I think that everybody should read it, even if they have no business aspirations. Because this book is more about business, it's about life.
I must note that I did not read the Kindle edition of this book. I read the hardback version of it. For some reason, Goodreads doesn't have the hardback version.
