As an orc woman, Viv knows all too well that everyone expects her to be brutish and dumb. And so far, her life as a warrior has done little to disprove that stereotype, but she's tired of fighting. She's a passionate reader, who wishes for nothing more than to run a cozy coffee shop where guests feel welcome and at home, whether they are dwarves, hobgoblins, humans, or gnomes.

People can change, can't they? She can hang up the sword (literally, as decoration) and instead focus on coffee beans, chocolate, and delicious pastries, right? Viv gathers a group of employees around her, none of whom quite fit the stereotypes they're confronted with. Soon enough, this group of misfits turns into a little family, utilizing their strengths to compensate for each other's weaknesses. There's also a sweet LGBTQIA+ love story.

Cozy fantasy at its finest: This book is just all-around darling and feel-good, with found family, a wholesome message, coffee-house atmosphere, and lots of mentions of tasty baked goods. Trust me, you need to read this with coffee and treats in reach!
