A fairly far future story, although there’s really only one far out SF concept here focused on, the idea that people can put their brains and spinal cords into new bodies, first cloned/grown bodies, then other animal-type bodies. I fear the world-building doesn’t hold up to the concept, although the authors center it on someone who has trouble accepting this brave new world, indicating they realize what a seismic shift this would be in human history. Instead, they focus on that one POV, and that is done extremely well.
