What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher

5.0

I had a really good time listening to this! Honestly, I did not expect to get so sucked in. Listened to it in one go, continuing on to the next day due to lack of time. While it was definitely horrifying, especially in body mutilation and gore, it wad unexpectedly funny?? I laughed out loud at some moments, the narrator had such a wry sense of humor that matched well with the equally, darkly humorous book. I almost expected the narrator to be the author themselves but nope! Apparently not. They did an excellent job haha!

The mystery that drove the plot stuck to me and while it was obvious that it was the fungi that was the cause of all this madness, the how was what drove my curiosity. Every reveal was entertaining and none of the characters were dumb and all acted expectedly considering the situation. It really carried the tone of 'keep on and carry on' which is very British of them lol.

Overall, had a great time reading this and the fact it was so short yet packed such a complete yet fun read hit the spot for me. Loved it and glad I read it!
