Reread 2024

I've wanted to reread this one for a while but held back as I remembered it being very emotional and I wasn't in the right head space. To be honest I didn't find it as upsetting on the re-read I still enjoyed it and shed a tear or two with what Nolan went through with his parents but not as bad as I thought it would be. I very much enjoyed the way Nolan and his mum reconnected and started a relationship they both wanted and needed, it was just sad his dad never got the chance.

Very good

I’ve read a number of this authors works and have enjoyed them all, but I think this is her best work to date. I connected and felt for both Nolan and Dallas early. The people of Pelican bay are not nice and don’t make the town a place you’d want to live in. They made up for it in the end but it took time to get there. Both Nolan and Dallas have their own personal hell’s they are living with and they both packed a punch.
I loved Loki and Gentry and all the other animals from the rescue. I can’t wait to see them again in the next one.
