Until You by Briar Prescott
5.0
What a delightful read this book was! The perfect mix of funny, spicy, sweet and heartbreaking. I was hooked from page one.
Until You tells the story of Jude and Blake, both in their mid twenties, both dealing with a complicated past. They meet on a bar rooftop one night, and although they part thinking they'll never see each other again, they end up becoming friends.
The book opens with a 17 year old Jude who finds out something that will change the course of his entire life. Fast forward 8 years, and we meet a grumpy, detached Jude that doesn't let anyone get too close to him. He is such a compelling character. Since this books is told from his point of view, we get to experience all his fears and wants and dreams.
The writing was really good, the author keeps you guessing for the better part of the book.. what happened 8 years ago? Why is Jude so prickly and cynical? In all his grumpiness, this dude was hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times. And damn, the chemistry he had with Blake was brilliant. I loved their dialogue, every interaction they had was bursting with humour and emotion.
I love me some drama. And this book delivered. Both characters have their secrets that ultimately unravel and their relationship is put to the test. Ugh, I ate this up. I especially liked the second half of the book, because Blake kept surprising me. He's sweet and funny and a nerd. He's adorable. And hot.
