Any Human Power by Manda Scott

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
first i wanna say thank you again to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book and giving me the opportunity to read this! sadly though, this book wasn't for me...
 ‎
i didn't connect with any of the characters. they felt a bit bland. there wasn't anything distinctive about them. the main character Lan was supposed to be 62 years old i believe but she didn't come across as an elderly woman to me.
i also was confused at times what life with the other characters was like for Lan before she passed away. i constantly had to remind myself who was who and that says a lot about the distinctiveness of the characters imo. 😭
 ‎
the writing style was also lyrical-like but not in a good way. something about it just didn't click with me and started feeling like a chore reading it.
the dialogue also wasn't fleshed out and moving enough, given the topic of the book and grief involved. it just felt a tad forced.

i don't know how i feel about following the perspective of a woman that'd passed away. normally i like it but in this case it just didn't work for me.
also world of warcraft was so random in here, it made the story a bit silly for me even tho i was a huge fan of it back in the day, constantly playing it lol. life after death and wow don't really go together in my humble opinion lol. i tried my best to move past these things but i felt myself going into a reading slump again so i had to dnf it. it's just not for me.
