I am gonna DNF every book this year that I am positive isn't going to get better for me and hello babe you're next in line.
This will probably work for someone, and I am interested to see where this author goes - but she's got no idea how to do subtlety at all. It's very clear exactly what the characters are thinking, saying, etc, and we have little to no subtext behind anything. No voices, there's a lot of repetition and whacking you over the head with concepts. Not to mention all the telling and not showing.
I really liked the magic system, atmosphere, setting and descriptions of the world, but this just reads like dumbed down YA and I don't even think this is YA!
