Once again we’re back in the small town of Cambric Creek filled with different species of monsters living in harmony and its townspeople living in it finding love. Throughout each of the books, there have been different couples from a Minotaur and a woman meeting at a milking farm, to a scientist moth man watching a woman from outside the window to finally our newest couple. This story was unique compared to the other books in that it dealt with a bit more serious topics from the event taking place in the midst of the story to the problems our main characters deal with personally. As much as I have enjoyed the smut in each of C.M. Nascosta’s books, this had a bit more depth to it than you would have expected. All in all, a werewolf romance with spice set within a small town sounded like a good time.

Lowell Hemming was a well known man or shall I say, werewolf amongst the people living in Cambric Creek. More notably, the name Hemming held a lot of power and notoriety as they were one of the main families that founded and established Cambric Creek. One would think that coming from a powerful family Lowell had his whole life set, but that was far from the truth. Working as a photojournalist, Lowell traveled the world and experienced many different cultures, environments, and he enjoyed his work. At the start of this book, the pandemic happened, but since Lowell was a werewolf he wasn’t affected by the virus that caused sickness to humans. Thus, the beginning of the story set up the scene of Lowell managing to get back home to Cambric Creek before everything was shut down. While I wasn’t necessarily a fan of having the mention of the pandemic be mentioned in the story, I could see how it played a role in showing how alone and isolated Lowell felt especially without being able to do his job in the midst of everything. Aside from that, Lowell’s character was instantly likable to me, I thought he was kind, nice, and lighthearted compared to his other brothers namely his big brothers.

Moriah was a woman trying to make her dream a reality. Becoming a mom was what Moriah wanted most in the world, but after dealing with the fallout and ending of her marriage due to being unable to conceive it left a lingering pain that Moriah always remembered. After so many trials of treatments to try to get pregnant, it seemed like nothing was working and with it Moriah’s dream of becoming a mom dwindling. Just when Moriah felt like her dream was never going to come true, her friend gave her the best chance possible which was going to a werewolf breeding clinic! With the use of werewolves as donors, it ensured a high success rate of pregnancy due to the werewolves cycle of heat, etc. Moriah had nothing left to use and so, she embarked on her journey to becoming pregnant and with it she would meet the werewolf she chose to help her in that endeavor, Lowell.

Compared to C.M. Nascosta’s other books, this story wasn’t just about a werewolf romance, it dealt with deeper issues. I could tell from the beginning of the story that it wasn’t going to be a quick and fast spicy monster romance, this story dove into both Moriah’s infertility and Lowell’s sense of isolation and loss of purpose during the pandemic. As much as I love a fast storyline at times, this was actually a bit more detailed and gave me more time to explore and appreciate Lowell and Moriah. If you’re looking for a monster romance that’s a bit longer, a mix of plot and character driven then you’ll like this book.

GIRLLLLLLLLL! I really enjoyed this book! Something about a werewolf romance just always hits the spot for me, and with the way C.M. Nascosta’s writing, she had me hooked with the way Lowell and Moriah met under unusual circumstances, but had a great connection. There was also a bit more of Lowell’s family, the Hemmings and seeing how each of the brothers were different from one another. I liked seeing Moriah’s story going from what she thought she had always wanting, to discovering what she truly wanted. Lowell also realized that his fears and worries weren’t completely different than what his own family dealt with. I think both Moriah and Lowell shared a sense of feeling like outsiders in their communities, but found a sense of belonging and happiness when they were together. I liked how Lowell was a sweet, cute man who honestly loved to be babied by Moriah which I found funny and endearing. Moriah truly allowed herself to explore her sexuality which GOOD FOR YOU GIRL! Moriah got the BDE from Lowell multiple times throughout the book! A great spicy, hot, monster romance set within the small town of Cambric Creek, illustrating tough topics, and an overall enjoyable story. I would recommend as well as the rest of the books in this series.
