This was a really neat book as it has a different twist on view of heaven. You learn very soon that the main character dies, and at such a young age this is a very difficult thing for her to try to deal with. Despite the heavy content, this is a pretty light read as the author does try to keep it upbeat for the most part.
I really enjoyed this new take on the afterlife. It's kind of an ingenious idea of what happens to us when we die that's really not been explored like this before. As well, this story is creative in that it allows us to see the effect death can have on the victim and not just those left behind. In this way, it's similar to The Lovely Bones, but this story takes the idea a completely different way and not down the dark road of The Lovely Bones (I found The Lovely Bones to be a fantastic book and I would recommend it as well as this one, but probably restricted to older readers--DON'T watch the movie!)
