American Prince by Sierra Simone

5.0

Many emotions were felt while reading the second installment of this passion and angst-fueled series. American Prince is told through the dual POV of Greer and Embry. I absolutely loved American Queen, and I loved American Prince even more because it added so much depth and complexity to this polyamorous love story.

At the end of American Queen, Ash, Greer, and Embry seemingly get their happily ever after. Lol well let’s just say it doesn’t last!! Drama ensued right from the beginning and I was enthusiastically along for the ride.

Through Embry’s POV, we see the history of his relationship with Ash- which spans almost 14 years!!! They weren’t together the whole time, and I certainly felt strong emotions through all the ups and downs. We learn why Ash and Embry didn’t stay together in the first place. We also see the intensity and honesty of Ash’s love for Embry, which made my heart melt. I usually hate reading anything to do with war, but I was very invested in Ash and Embry’s army love story.

American Prince also shows Greer and Embry’s first meeting through Embry’s eyes. Embry’s relationship with Greer is very different from her relationship with Ash, and I love them all together so much. The only issue I have with this relationship is that Ash and Embry have such a RICH history together- and they both fell in love with Greer after meeting her once. I usually hate instalove, but somehow Sierra Simone has made their love for her so incredibly convincing??? I just wish that Greer’s relationships with both Ash and Embry were a little more developed in the past I guess, it makes it feel like less of a balanced poly relationship. But in the present, nothing about their love for her feels forced or shallow, so I guess they really did fall in love with her that quickly and they all love each other equally LOL

I’ve said this multiple times and I’ll 100% say it again and again, but Sierra Simone is an excellent writer. She is incredibly skilled at writing absolutely anything in the most beautiful way. Yes she is the queen of spice who cannot be overthrown, but she also writes complex stories that are emotionally charged and impossible to forget. I’m not even kidding, I was trying a new anxiety medication that made me feel like a total zombie while reading this, literally couldn’t feel emotions or cry at all, and this book was the only thing that was actually making me feel emotion LOL. I stopped that medication so I feel my emotions again thank god, but I think that shows how powerful her storytelling and prose is
