Reading this Rosamunde Pilcher book transported me to the setting of this book - somewhere in Scotland mostly.  Her descriptions of the area gave me a clear picture in my mind of the beauty surrounding this area.  All of the characters became like friends to me as we followed them from May through September waiting for the big event to take place.  There were several moments of surprise as the plot took unexpected twists, keeping me engaged the entire time.  This was an excellent slow but steady read for me as I picked it up and put it down as time and other reading allowed.
