You already KNOW I was excited when I got an ARC for the next book in the Seattle Scorpions series! WOO! YASSS! Ruth Stilling once again has graced us with another great hockey romance, but this time with tropes ranging from, high school friends to lovers, serious found family vibes, she falls first and he falls way harder, banter, spice, swoon worthy romance, and more!
The last time we saw Zach Evans (*I would highly suggest you read the first book!) in the first book, he was going through it, and it rolled over into this book as well. With Zach is feeling the lack of trust due to his former girlfriend, he was determined to live a single life, and just focus on himself. With the offseason in full swing, Zack was back home and ready to dive into renovating his new home. Being back home also meant being reunited with old friends such as, Luna. Luna was one of Zack’s friends from high school, and like time hadn’t passed, the two quickly picked up right they left off. Zack and Luna’s friendship was a lot more than what they originally had, instead this time around it was filled with tension, and longing, but with Zack’s life at the moment, things weren’t as simple as he’d hoped.
My oh my! Zack and Luna were quite the couple. Zack was a bit of a grump, and Luna was literal sunshine incarnate. Together, Zack and Luna had wonderful chemistry and suffice it to say, their connection got a whole lot steamier and passionate when things went into the bedroom! PHEW! Lord have mercy! IT WAS HOT! Asides, from the obvious hotness that emanated from their chemistry, Luna and Zack also shared a lovely friendship that was the foundation for their inevitable relationship. I will admit, for me personally I felt like things could have waited until a bit more into the story, but maybe it’s just because I like when it’s drawn out a bit kind of like Jon and Felicity’s romance was a slow burn. Regardless, seeing Zack and Luna’s friendship turn into a romance was enjoyable and satisfying especially with all the years that Luna had feelings for him.
Seeing the found family in this book was amazing and another reason why I love this series a lot! For Luna, once she met the rest of the gang namely, Felicity and Kate, it was like she found her place among them quickly. Luna didn’t have a lot of friends so to see the women embrace her wholeheartedly and welcome her into the family was heartwarming and lovely to see. Luna had the support, love, and respect from not only Zack, but also from her new found friends and family. I honestly felt the admiration and love of the found family in this book more than I think in this first book, but regardless both were amazing!
This was a great book filled with lovable, amazing characters that once again Ruth Stilling did an amazing job putting together. I’ll always cherish Jon and Felicity since they’re my favorites, but seeing Zack and Luna’s story unfold was good too. I liked seeing the friends to lovers storyline play out, and it just goes to show that even through all that time, Zack and Luna always shared a strong connection with each other. There were multiple swoon worthy moments and spicy moments that had me giggling and dropping my jaw on occasion. Zack found his person, and funny enough she always there in his life, but it took him a while to realize that. Luna and Zack had great chemistry which in turned made for some equally romantic moments. I think if you’re looking for a story with found family, a hockey romance, she falls first and he falls harder, spice, romantic moments, and lovable characters then I highly suggest you read this book as well as the first book in the series! Once again, I can’t wait for the next book in this series! OMG!
