The Women by Kristin Hannah
5.0
WOW. Just wow.
I will be totally up front - this was my first historical fiction read. I have been trying to expand my genres this year and historical fictions always seem to intimidate me BUT i will be adding Kristen Hannah’s entire back log to my TBR.
i am shocked at how much i truly enjoyed every second of this novel. Hannah obviously did LOADS of research to make this as accurate as it could possibly be from what women who were in Vietnam dealt with during and after to PTSD, loosing a loved one, etc.
I think it’s important to remember that the romance is almost a second subplot in my opinion. As a romance reader i didn’t really “enjoy” the romance - cheating is one of my least favorite tropes to read, but it didn’t take away from the overall book for me because it wasn’t just the romance for me.
Frankie is such a bad ass. She really went through so much - i was broken for her. Her character can be relatable to so many PEOPLE in that the hurt and the battles she goes through i think we have all been there at some point.
THE NARRATOR - I consumed via audiobook and the narration was spectacular. I ate it up, i didn’t want to stop. She did a phenomenal job.
5 stars truly isn’t enough imo.
