The Small Hand by Susan Hill
4.0
This is a nice efficiently-told ghost story by the author of The Woman in White. It's a classic style ghost story, so much so that I was surprised when, towards the end of the book, someone mentioned something being findable on the Internet. Here I was thinking it was taking place some time in the not-so-distant but certainly pre-Internet past.
The main character stumbles on a decaying house and feels...a hand. A small, cool hand in his own. what more could somebody want than that in a ghost story, really?
