Audiobook narrated by Scott Brick.

My second time reading this book and I decided to listen to the audio version before diving into book two that a friend recently lent me. It is as detailed, as thrilling and as complex as I remember and it is utterly wonderful.

- Crichton builds things slowly and methodically. The pace for the first two thirds of this book is sedate, carefully building the foundations for when the action kicks in. And when things really start kicking off that preparation makes the events more terrifying and pulse raising.

- For when this book was written, and even in some cases now, the technical details of the book are superb. The dinosaur knowledge and details especially are wonderfully accurate for the time of writing.

- The characters are wonderfully written and all bring something different to the story. Even the ones you grow to hate are so well written that you appreciate their part.

- Brick's narration is great and really adds to the atmosphere. The narration itself is quite slow so I did speed it up to 1.5x speed and had no problems with comprehension at all.

A wonderful sci-fi book and a truly favourite book of mine. Perfect for dinosaur nuts, those who like slow and well built sci-fi stories and, of course, fans of the Jurassic Park films which draw their inspiration from this book.
