📝 This was super cute! A solid YA regency romance with no spice. The MCs do a lot of pining after each other, they are constantly verbally sparring, there are societal obstacles in their way, MMC has carried a talisman from FMC since he was twelve, just a lot of classic wholesome regency romance stuff.
The MCs have known each other since childhood and played pranks on each other and insulted each other all the time as kids. One of MMC's pranks goes too far when they're teens and FMC hates him forever (or, until they meet again as adults and he wins her over after a while). As adults they form a strategic alliance to get what they want, which is certainly not each other, nope, not at all.
The one bit of the book that bothered me is that the person who is arguably the biggest obstacle between the MCs treats FMC atrociously and relentlessly pursues MMC. She is so clearly painted the antagonist but then it turns out to all be a story of tragic circumstance and she gets an HEA too and everyone is friends? I just didn't feel that it was earned enough, she still felt like a villain.
🎧 The book is first person dual POV, and we had both a male and female narrator who both did a good job.
🌶️ 1/5 There is one ardent kiss, plus a scene that could've been a heavy make out session but it gets interrupted far too soon.

Moderate: Bullying, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence, Injury/Injury detail, and Classism
Minor: Animal cruelty, Homophobia, Infidelity, Medical content, Grief, Death of parent, and Alcohol
Infidelity is in the past and is a relative, not either of the MCs.
