Happy Place by Emily Henry

4.0

Another enjoyable summer read from Emily Henry! This is a bit different from her previous books as the two leads (Harry and Wyn) were previously together and are no longer. However, it's infused with Henry's hallmarks of fun banter and great friends. Harriet (Harry) and Wyn have been together for years since college, but recently broke up. They have a tight-knit friend group that vacations in Maine annually. They have not told their friends about the break-up, but find themselves stuck together at the home they visit. It did get a little tedious at times with so much rumination by Harry as to why their relationship ended. I loved hearing about the relationship Harry has with her best friends and the beginning of her romantic relationship with Wyn. Wyn frustrated me at times because he was so tight-lipped about his thoughts and feelings. I did find the main characters charming, but they weren't my favorite in the novel. Henry does a wonderful job exploring friendship and how we drift apart gradually from our friends as our lives change. I listened to the audiobook, which was perfectly narrated by Julia Whelan.

Thank you, PRH Audio for providing this audiobook ARC. All thoughts are my own.
