Wow. Just wow. I’m absolutely speechless. What a worthy contender for my top reads for this year.

With a dual timeline setting and a circle of strong empowered women at the heart of this story, we go on an emotional journey through their stories.

Though it is fair to say, there are triggers, so if you’re triggered by the following, please read at your own discretion/with caution:
• adoption
• treatment of young & unmarried women in the 1970s
• miscarriages
• IVF journeys
• Huntingtons disease

These women and their stories all differ from each other in various ways but brings them together to create the right knitted group they are.

Catherine, was just a young girl when she found herself pregnant and sent to a mother and baby institute run by the nuns. The way she and the other young, unmarried women were treated made me want to punch those nasty nuns in the face. But she is strong willed and we see her slowly start to move on with her life, but never forgetting her little girl.

Caroline, Lucy and Janet are all struggling to conceive and they meet at a support group. Further down the line Ronnie is introduced and at first, she was hard to work out. With questions hanging about, I was drawn to her character. Ronnie has joined the group but for reasons that differ.

We see Ronnie settle in nicely with the ladies but we also see the real Ronnie & start to understand her reasons for joining the support group.

I wasn’t ready for how it ended and I think I’ll be replaying it over and over for a while. I’m completely bereft and at a loss now. I really didn’t want this journey with these ladies to be over so soon. That is how you know you’ve read a pretty amazing book.
