I’m getting back into my fantasy reads, and this story was a great addition to it. When a Fae princess of the Summer Court was tasked with the mission to get the heart of dark Fae, Dawn Ambrose was prepared for it. With her whole life having been trained from fighting, knowledge of the other Fae world to thinking on her feet, the day had finally come when she would complete the task that many before her have done. Along the way, things didn’t go according to plan, and that was when Dawn met Zander. Zander wasn’t just devastatingly handsome, but he also happened to be the Commander of the Northern Army. This fantasy story had romance, a bit of enemies to lovers, one horse trope, action, magic, faes, and deception.

I’m going to try to keep this review short and simple because, I have a lot to say! This was such a fast paced, exciting fantasy romance! I went into this book not entirely sure what to expect, but OMG! This book went beyond my expectations! Dawn was obviously a strong FMC, but she not only came up against a big obstacle in order to save her kingdom, but she came to the realization that not everything she knew was true. Even meeting Zander, I thought I had him figured out, but NO! I was wrong. Zander was an interesting MMC and boy was he was a charmer as well. There was a bit of dislike to lovers, but more so in the, “I’m putting up with you” kind of way from Dawn’s p.o.v. The story got progressively better with each chapter, and MY GOODNESS THOSE PLOT TWISTS HAD ME REACTING OUT LOUD, GASPING IN SHOCK LIKE WHAT?! Maybe I’m being over dramatic, but I honestly did have a genuine reactions while reading. I was on edge, excited, worried, and occasionally swooned over the small romantic moments in between. This story ended up becoming an even more in depth storyline, and THIS WAS JUST THE FIRST BOOK! I also liked the way this book basically set up the rest of the books so, I have a feeling with each book it will expand on the curse, what each character will be faced in accordance with trying to end the curse, etc. This fantasy book was great, again fast paced, always onto the next thing that kept the story moving, and not leaving me bored. Genuinely had a fun, exciting time reading this book. I would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for an intriguing, fast paced, action adventure with princesses, lords, magic, mystery, and more!
